A Conparative Cephalometric Study Between Adult Normal Occlusion and Angle's Class II Malocclusion Using McNamara Analysis;

Abstract
this investigation was designed to compare adult Class II malocclusion to adult normal occlusion using McNamara analysis. The material selected for this study was composed of standard lateral cephalogram of 60 Class II adults and 60 Class I
adults
which
were 30 males and 30 females each.
On the basis of findings of this study, the following results were obtained.
1) Class II malocclusion can be resulted from various combinations of skeletal and dental components. It is seldom a single clinical entity
2) Mandibular retrusion can be a great factor of Class II malocclusion
3) Anterior facial height data shows excessive vertical development in Class II malocclusion.
4) On the average, maxilla was in neutral position, not in a protruded position as supposed
5) The degree of maxillary incisor protrusion in Class II malocclusion is slightly larger than normal.
6) Mandibular incisor was positioned as in a normal.
As McNamara commented and this study supported, it can be said that in designing the ideal Class II treatment regime, those approaches which might alter the amount and direction of mandibular growth could be more appropriate in many cases than
those
which restrict maxillary development.
